SWE-DISH Expands Portable Satellite Terminal Line with Cost Effective, User-Friendly FA120KS Fly-Away
SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB Launches Affordable, Rugged,
Easy-to-Operate 1.2-Meter Fly-Away Terminal with Multiband
Capability
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — March 10, 2009 — SWE-DISH Satellite
Systems AB, a DataPath company specializing in compact, quick-to-air and
easy-to-use mobile satellite communications equipment, is expanding its
innovative line of products with the availability of the FA120KS Fly-Away
terminal. The FA120KS combines ease-of-use and portability in a system that can
be set-up and used by non-technical military personnel, commercial news
broadcasters, and first responders to deliver reliable, high-bandwidth voice,
video and data communications. The satellite communications terminal is designed
to meet demanding mission-critical requirements, and it features worldwide Ku
band capability with X and Ka band upgradeability.
Designed with a focus on easy operation for the user, the FA120KS has a
step-by-step intuitive PC graphical user interface to guide the operator through
the steps of deployment, communication and stowing. There are no tools required
during assembly or deployment, and the terminal has a one-button start that
initiates automatic point-and-shoot satellite acquisition using the inbuilt GPS
receiver, compass and inclinometer. This easy operation allows the user to focus
on their task and mission instead of managing their communications
equipment.
The fly-away antenna delivers excellent antenna performance due to the unique
shape of the elliptical main and subreflector. This design enables low sidelobes
and provides high gain and cross-polarization discrimination without
compromising on the compactness and low profile of the antenna.
The FA120KS is constructed with rugged material and has been rigorously
tested to withstand harsh military combat environments as well as demanding
satellite news gathering situations. The system meets the full requirements for
U.S. military Combat Service Support and MIL-STD-810F environments. In addition,
it fully complies with Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Intelsat,
Eutelsat and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards.
Lars Jehrlander, CEO of SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, said, “At SWE-DISH, the
ease-of-use, portability, and reliability of our products have always been
cornerstones of our development and marketing strategies. The development path
of our suitcase-sized satellite terminals continues to focus on excellent
antenna performance, high-end engineering and user-friendly design elements.”
